How to boost brain power and memory naturally. 3 Effective Steps

Aristotle taught that the brain exists merely to cool the blood and is not involved in the process of thinking. This is true only of certain persons. Will Cuppy.

The brain is the main control center for every vital activity that is necessary for survival. It is also involved in functions such as; movement, sleep, hunger, and thirst. More so, all human emotions including love, hate, anger elation and sadness are controlled by the brain.

The brain also receives and processes signals that are sent to it from other parts of the body and from external sources as well.

Your brain contains roughly 100 billion nerve cells forming anywhere from a trillion to perhaps even a quadrillion connections called synapses. These connections are in a constant, dynamic state of remodeling in response to the world around you. Everyone is amazed by the brain.

Your brain not only interprets the world, it creates it. Everything you see, hear, touch, taste, and smell would have none of those qualities without the brain. Whatever you experience today be it your morning coffee, the love you feel for your family or a brilliant idea at work has been specially customized solely for you.

There are three steps to boost brain power and memory naturally;

Step #1.

The first step is by using power foods to give your brain the nutrition it needs. You need to select foods with three things in mind:

  • Foods that will shield you from toxins. They are surprisingly common, and it is critical to know where they are.
  • Second, certain natural fats are essential for brain function, while others are harmful. The correct balance makes a big difference in helping each brain cell work optimally.
  • Third, certain vitamins knock out free radicals and other compounds that could damage brain cells. Having a healthy menu is the most important thing you can do. After all, every minute of the day, your brain cells are taking in the nutrients or toxins that have been absorbed through foods.

Step #2.

The second step is exercising your brain. Simple mental exercises strengthen connections within your brain. They are surprisingly easy, fun, and powerful. Physical exercises are powerful, too. Just as exercise strengthens your heart, it does the same for your brain. The effect of physical exercise is so dramatic that MRI scans can demonstrate a visible difference in brain structure in a relatively short period of time.

Step #3.

Step three involves defeating the common physical threats to your memory and preserving and enhancing your brain. There are two specific issues you’ll want to address:

  • Sleep disruptions and;
  • Certain medications and medical conditions.

Sleep is very essential for integrating memories, and many cognitive problems can be traced to common sleep disruptions. It is important to take advantage of the natural integrative power of sleep.

Common medications and medical conditions can derail your thought processes, sometimes to the point of being mistaken for Alzheimer’s disease until the cause is identified. Whether you aim to simply boost your brain power, eliminate daily lapses, or cut your risk of Alzheimer’s disease and stroke, you may need to put each of these simple steps to work so you can be at your absolute best for the long haul.

Implementing your brain enhancing strategy will be easy once the above steps are adhered to.

A good diet for the brain basically includes the following nutritional guidelines. Oily fish and vegetable oils are good for the brain as are plenty of anti-oxidant rich fruits and vegetables. Eat plenty of foods containing selenium, carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin E, the B vitamins and coenzyme Q10 or use supplements where necessary.

One nonfood supplement that has been found to be particularly helpful in boosting the brain is an extract prepared from the Maidenhair tree, Ginkgo biloba. This improves blood circulation, particularly in the smallest blood vessels, the capillaries across which the exchange of gases and nutrients takes place.

Taking Ginkgo biloba improves the blood, oxygen and nutrient supply to the brain but the compound has other properties as well. It is a potential antioxidant but it also has powerful effect upon intellectual faculties especially improving the memory and mental performance of people suffering from early to moderate Alzheimer’s dementia and slow up the progression of the disease.
